I’ve been using this and I was hoping that this will help with my pimples. But I don’t really see the result that I want. I think that this doesn’t exactly help, but it doesn’t worsen it. Which is a pity, cause I can buy cheaper face wash and get the same result. This ia 200ml for $35, so it is still ok. Not the cheapest, but not exactly what you will call expensive. As it is Clinique, the brand has that kind of price point. So it is fine. But I can use a $15 facial cleanser and feel the same. But for $35, this last a long time. So not bad. Plus I feel, if you don’t really have high expectation of this, you won’t be disappointed in the first place.
So if you don’t have expectation on this. Then, this cleanse makeup well. The formula is like a soft gel. So it is non drying and easy to rinse off. It doesn’t feel like it strip off your natural oil on your face, but you also feel like your face is just clean. No more oil residue, no more makeup residue. Mascara can also be remove. I never try it with stubborn waterproof one, but so far it is ok.
Overall it is not a bad cleanser. Just nothing wow about it. Then again, many people swear by Clinique skincare, but for me, it is just so-so.
This is in the shade Natural Fair which seems quite light when swatch. But the colour kind of blend into the skin, so it wasn’t as bad. As long as you use a bit, no problem. Too much and the cream doesn’t seems to blend right. I have to set this with a setting powder to make it look more matte. And it will last for about 6 hours till I look quite shiny around the nose area. For a moisture surge CC cream, it wasn’t very moisturising as even after a thick moisturiser, my skin still looks quite flaky. Not sure how I feel about this, but is not something I will repurchase.
I am a little obsess with finding the right eye cream. So far, there is no one that is perfect for me. I’ve been trying this one for awhile. It is pretty much just an eye cream. It’s much thicker than the All About Eyes. But I really see no difference in result.
Personally I prefer the normal one. It is more gel like and blends into the skin faster. But I guess this one will be good on colder months. Even though the container is small, it lasted forever.
The good thing: SPF15
Bad: Sticky beyond help.
This is the stickiest lipgloss I’ve ever tried on. Sure all long wearing gloss tend to be on the sticker side, but I think this just feels so uncomfortable on the lips. Lasting power also not very long, maybe just 3 hours plus. Ok, it is longer than normal gloss, but it is just so unpleasant to wear that you just don’t really try to do anything with your mouth. So it just sit there unmoving. Most of the time, I remove them minutes after trying again.
The color is pretty though. Pink with gold specks. Doesn’t have any scent. So disappointing with this one. Luckily it is just a sample size and comes free with purchase.
The mascara is just a normal one. It does lengthen but not crazy long. It is good for daily. I guess you can layer it but I feel that it clump my lashes. I really kind of regret getting extension 3 years ago. I feel that my lashes doesn’t fully recover and every mascara will easily gives me spidery lashes. It is bad. But if you ask if I will get extension again, I will say yes.
The brush is a normal bristle with one side longer than the other. It is nice to get through your lashes. The shorter side will helps to give a little volume. Overall it’s a good daily mascara for me. But I do prefer others.
Future me will probably want recollection on how now me do my makeup for Uni on most days. Especially for 8.30 class, as I am just not a morning person. So, after snoozing the alarm button for the eleventh time, I panic and wake up. I then brush my teeth and get into the shower.
So in my own room, the first thing I do is to put toner like the one from Hada Labo with a cotton pad. I like it and it doesn’t break me up, so that’s good. I pat my face hoping it will dry faster. Then I use a moisturizer with SPF. I won’t use serum or sunscreen cause I ain’t got the time. Oilum Hydro-Rebalance Collagen Revitalizing Lotion is formulated by Dermatologist. It is a hydrating moisturizer to rebalance skin’s moisture and firmness as well as protecting skin against environment irritants. It’s an ok moisturizer better use on dryer skin. It gets oily for me if I don’t use anything else. I don’t really like the scent but it kind of grew on me. The thing I like about this is the double UV filter.
So after moisturizer, I sit on my bed and decide what I am going to wear if I haven’t already decided the night before. I wait about 3-5 minutes until my moisturizer dry. By then I probably already pick my outfit. If I haven’t, I will be late.
I then put on this Maybelline Clear Smooth BB White. I love this bb cream and I did a post of it here, but this the SPF50 while the former was only SPF26. Without sunscreen, I need the high SPF. It is also sheer, not thick, so kind of balance out the moisturizer. If the weather is not so hot, this will be too dark for me.
Then while that dry, I dress up. Follow by combing my hair.
I don’t really bother with concealer. I just use the Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine Free Face Powder in natural to set the bb cream. They both work great together. This is a repurchase, cause I like it that much.
I will then quickly draw on my eyebrows. I use to not able to leave the house without mascara but now I know I can’t leave the house without my brows done. I just look so naked plain.
Then I use mascara, but I don’t curl them lashes. I kind just hope the mascara is good. As long as it doesn’t smudge, it’s good enough for me. In the morning, I don’t have much standard.
If I have time, I put on blush like the MUA Mosaic Blush. It’s light and doesn’t show up as much. I feel that it’s unlikely I will screw up by having bright cheek. So this blush is perfect. On normal circumstances I don’t really like it. It’s coarse and doesn’t show. I feel like its more of a highlighter than a blush. They say the blush is suppose to be a universal blush and works for every skin or something, but I don’t see the magic of it.
I will lastly use Clinique Chubby Stick in Super Strawberry. This is just a moisturizing colored balm. The balm is quite sheer, but it’s kind of a berry pink tone, so it’s actually quite subtle on the lips. It is not hard to put on, most of the time I’ll use it when I’m waiting for the lift. It feels nice on the lips, really moisturizing. I also like the fact that it hides away my chapped lips on those days.
This one of those item that you get free when you purchase a certain amount of Clinique product. The duo is in 04 Strawberry Fudge. I like that’s it’s small. Really great for traveling especially when you know you won’t be putting eyeshadow but just in case. The colors are neutral enough. But it’s not as pigmented as I would like. The colors are just very soft. It’s very light, and probably only good for people who doesn’t want their eye makeup to show.
So I went for a few mini vacations this summer. Mostly to places where the sun is scorching hot. In other words, places like Singapore. I couldn’t be bothered with makeup, but I just brought along a few things.
I got this makeup bag for free with purchase of theBalm products.
The make up remover is not one of the step, but I did not try the cleanser. I do not like this remover as you have to rinse it off. I rather get a proper all in one cleanser if I were to use water anyway.
The second step is tone. Clinique has 4 types of toner in this range. The one here is no.2 which is for dry combination skin. So this is the wrong toner for me. But I just used it and it is really drying. I do not like it. Shouldn’t for something claim to be for dry combination be more moistening? I’ve read reviews and its not me. People do find it drying.
Next up is the dramatically different moisturising gel. I kind of feel hydrated using this, but at the same time I am scared it will turn oily really fast. And true enough, it does just that.
I am glad I got to try my cousin’s stuff, as this just do nothing for me. My cousin has sensitive skin though, so this work just well for her.
