It was winter when I got hold of this palette. It’s really gorgeous. I love the colours and they are all perfect for autumn. The blushes are super pigmented and the packaging is sleek. But boy, how do I wear them? They’re just so full on out there that it’s hard to apply. Cause you have to be careful and gentle. I don’t like too much blush on me. So while everything is beautiful, application is a pain. Even using a stippling brush, this will still give off a lot of colour. So a gentle hand is a must. This will be good for stage makeup though.
I did mentioned that I wanted a matte palette here. I know MUA came out with one, but when I was purchasing this, it has not come out. Besides I wanted to try Sleek. There were so many choices to choose from, but I end up deciding on the matte v2. I find that the color is much more wearable than v1. But it still is extremely colorful for my standard.
The packaging is really sleek. Quite thin and sturdy. I have a hard time opening it cause it’s just tight? Will be good for traveling as it’s very secure. I also like that it has a big mirror. It comes with dual ended sponge tip brush, which can be useful if you need to use it straight away. There’s also a clear plastic sheet that separate the shadows from the mirror. It has all the name of the shadows which is nice, but it can be a pain to keep it in the palette.
So these are the colors. It’s pretty. I don’t know if you can see from the swatch that its not consistent. Some are more powdery than others, some are really smooth to the touch. I love the smoothness of eye shadows. Even though I hardly use my fingers to apply and can’t feel them, so I don’t know why it mattered.
Orbit – a dark teal, smooth but powdery
Ink – dark blue (like pen ink)
Highness – a light purple (not pigmented)
Noir – black, powdery and has fallout
Dune – yellow beige, really smooth
Pillow talk – white, smooth
Thunder – grey with silver undertone
Maple – light maroon
Flesh – skin tone
Paper bag – honey brown
Villan – burgundy, quite powdery
Fern – forest green, quite powdery
I can get away without a primer, but I just like with primer the colors are more vibrant and they stay put longer. I don’t have a problem with it fading before I have to remove them. Flesh and Dune doesn’t really show up on my lids. I still can use Dune to highlight or just as a base. But Flesh is useless on me, so that’s the only downer.
