This is my shade. It blends in so perfectly that I can’t tell if the bb cream stayed put or has disappear. Of course this is quite a dewy so it’s easy to tell if it’s on my skin. It’s quite sad that this is for dry skin. If not it will be nice to have something that matches my skin tone perfectly. Plus this has a SPF 37 so it’s quite a high one. I guess it is too bad that my skin is oily.
This is a slightly pink primer. But of course it blends in to clear. It’s quite moisturing which is nice. But it sort of make my makeup look heavy. And after about 3 hours my face especially around the nose area started to get oily. So this is better for anyone with dry skin. It’s nice though cause it has SPF. I just wouldn’t buy this.
Bought this for $3.90 if I’m not wrong. I just wanted a brush to apply my face mask. It’s really quite a game changer. Not only my fingers will be clean from the goo, the application is rather smooth and even. I think that’s the best thing about using this.
The brush is a synthetic fiber that is soft. It’s not too big and not too small. It is a good size for my face. It makes application of mask much faster. It’s easy to clean the brush too.
They say that 80% of people in Singapore stay in HDB (public housing). My mom’s house is under the old layout which only has 1 bathroom. Basically it is 2. One for shower, the other is the toilet. There are 5 of us trying to use the shower daily. Thankfully, we have different schedule, so we never have to fight for the shower. We also have 4 “shelf” area where we put the shampoo and soap on. And 1 shelf is specially for me. While the rest sort of share shower gel and shampoo, I tend to have my own. The rest of the shelves consist of 1) shampoo (general, bro, sis), shower gel, 2) facial wash (mom, sis, bro), eczema soap, conditioner and 3) shower cap, mini toiletries, etc.
When it comes to my shelf, I have 9 item squeeze into the tiny space. Plus the conditioner which I usually share with my sis therefore it wont be on my shelf. Here are the item I am using at the moment.
I am in between shampoos. I am usually either using Avalon Organics thickening shampoo or Naturvital hair loss shampoo. Or maybe some Klorane. So it really depend.
2. Clarifying shampoo
I’ve been using this Avalon Organics Clarifying Lemon Shampoo for a while, and I really mean a while. I just cant seem to finish this up. I hardly use this as I don’t think this is as good. I try to use this once a week, but will be more if I took a late shower, cause I have no confidence in my oily hair. So this is just good for a day.
3. Hair mask/treatment
I tend to use more hair mask than conditioner. It is much thicker and I don’t have to use as much.
I like this. It’s thick and a little is all you need to make your hair extra smooth. I used it once and after for 3 days straight I don’t use any conditioner. My hair is still very smooth. I was so impressed. In term of strengthening, well I’m not really sure how good it is. But it’s really nice for tangle free hair for days. It’s also not that expensive.
I don’t like the shampoo and conditioner as much. Cause you really have to use a lot of it. But this one is much better.
4. Shower gel
I am not so fussy when it comes to shower gel, but I do love fruity scented shower gel. About 70% of the time, I am using TBS or Sephora. This time I have the mango creamy body wash from Sephora. This smells so much like mango pudding. It’s very creamy and foam up nicely. It doesn’t give crazy foam, but it’s nice on the body. It’s moisturising and doesn’t leave your skin feeling dry. I really like it.
5. Body scrub
This is the honey body scrub. I just cant get over the scent of TBS honey. its just so sweet and lovely. I really do love most of the scents from TBS and I just cant get over them. Bought this on sale, if not I will prefer to use the squeeze tube one which is for daily use. The tub one is to be used once or twice a week only as it is more abrasive.
6. Face wash
I’m not sure if I like this. It is quite watery. It has this scent that I can’t describe but it just feels organic and westernise herbal. Yea it doesn’t make sense, but that is that. I am not sure if this is the reason pimple kept popping out. In term of cleansing, this do great. It feels like it strip off moisture, yet it doesn’t leave your skin dry.
7. Facial scrub
This is TheFaceShop Flebeaute White Crystal Diamond Peeling. It’s not exactly a facial scrub, but I guess you can consider it as one. You can use it on a dry face or a wet one. It is so lovely on the face regardless. It foam up well. So on dry face, you use this in circular motion for about 1 minute, then you rinse it. It feels good on the face. And after you rinse off, your fave just feels super clean. With a wet face, this is less abrasive. But still function he same.
8. Hygiene wash
I use the travel size one. Especially for the brand Lactacyd, I will buy the 60ml at $2 cause ml by ml comparing to the full size, this is much cheaper. I pretty much tried all the different variants they have, and I like the original best. I am not so choosy on the brand I use. But not everything works well for me. The yellow bottle of Lactacyd is a no for me.
I will have a razor in the shower. This will be for my legs. I shave like every 2-3days. This one is the 3 blades one. The refills are not as expensive as the 4 or 5 blades. But I buy them on sale anyway. I know you are suppose to throw away the blade after like a few uses, but I will only throw it away if I feel that it’s no longer sharp. And that is a personal feel. But ya, I prefer guy shaver as they are slightly cheaper. And I use conditioner to lather up, so no problem there.
So those are the things I usually have in my bathroom. Different brand, but same function. I wish we can have bath tubs in HDB. I want to use Lush bombs so badly. Oh well, we can’t have everything.
This is a thick but really easy to blend in. It’s absorb into the skin quite fast. The only thing I have to say about this is that it is too moisturizing for me. That is why I am quite afraid of anti aging products. Anyway, this moisturizer leaves me quite oily in the morning. I use it only at night and wakes up with an oily face. Oh well, not a fan.
I have the brightening skin toner and brightening emulsion. The toner smells good, very florally. It is also very cooling on the skin. A bit sticky after, so I have to wait for about 3 minutes before I can put on the emulsion. The emulsion has the same pleasant scent as the toner. However Shen I put it on my face, it kind of turn sour. Not sure if it is a bad batch, or its chemical reaction to my skin ph value. Anyway, I do not like it.
I still use it just to see how much it will brighten my face, and I can say that it has not. It doesn’t really do anything for my skin really. So these are a no.
We talked about about makeup and skincare, so lets focus on the nails. There are manicure and pedicure sets. There are a mix sets of everything. There are nail polish sets at different prices. I so want the Sephora X. When it comes to nails, it’s pretty much random and anything goes. Last year, I received at least a nail polish from everyone. They know how much I love to play with my nails.
As a nail art lover, I own a lot of nail polishes. Not as much as others, but plenty comparing to regular people. I took a poll of my friends, and on average they own 8 polishes. That’s because less than half of them only own 3 each. Nonetheless, compare to them, I own “hundreds”, 204 to be exact. In my defense, some of them are mini bottles.
So I can roughly imagine what will be great to give for someone “starting out” so to speak. For me it will be a DIY basket. Make your own basket to give them. Inside will include mani pedi stuff, cuticle oil, base and top coats, some colors in different finishes, etc. I will put different brands, so the receiver will be able to see what kind of formula and brushes that she likes.
Below are some ideas. You don’t even need to make a basket. It can be a gift on its own or an add-on. I don’t think Singapore do stocking stuffers.
Thefaceshop Face It Check Check nail kit is a cute full size trio for anyone. It is also the only one I have in its box, cause the box is cute. Anyway the polishes is quite sheer, but the idea of this polishes is to create checkered pattern on the nails. It can be done pretty easily, but your nails may be to small for it to work.
I also received this BK Fashion Color 24 mini (7ml) nail polishes set. It is nice to have many different colors to choose from. The colors are primarily basic. It’s simple and not interesting. Only the metallic silver caught my eyes. There are a few finishes; jelly, shimmer, glitter, cream. I find that I don’t really use it on my own nails. Cause it’s not that eye catching. Then again it’s the mini bottle that doesn’t grab my attention. I tend to neglect all my mini polishes. But I am glad to have them, cause they are really helpful for nail art.
As a single nail polish, I think it will be nice to receive something from Butter London, Illamasqua, Chanel, etc. I have Deborah Lippmann Marquee Moon which a cool silver metallic with hex glitter. I like the bottle, I like the brand. It’s quite pricey, so it’s a really good gift, or even better as an add-on.
OPI matte top coat is the best matte top coat I’ve ever used. I know OPI sell the top coat sets which contain their 3 types of top coat. So that could be a good gift. Or just get this, as matte top coat is unique. At least it’s different from the regular. A base coat could be added.
Dotting tools is really a simple tool that can make a difference in your plain nails. You can a,ways make it yourself, but having the actual too, just makes you feel more professional. It’s not expensive and it’s great. It comes in a set of 5 with 10 different sizes of dots.
Nail art stickers are great too. Or anything nail art related, like beads or rhinestone. It’s easy to apply, that’s what matter. I know, Ciate sets will be awesome.
Seche Vite dry fast top coat is probably one of the best top coat. I do like it a lot, but I feel there must be something better out there. But for now, this is one of the best for me. If you are planning to give this to someone, don’t forget to include the Seche Restore. The nail polish thinner really helps to prolong the life of the top coat.
Lastly my favorite. Nail art polishes. These are from Daiso and every time I go there, I will search for them. The brush is real tiny, so it’s great for nail art. It’s the cheapest I found in Singapore. I think I prefer nail art pens, but it’s either too expensive for my liking or not found in Singapore. I never tried them, but they will probably be easier to use. So nail strippers are the next best thing. They say you can use nail art brushes to make the stripes but I find cleaning up really hard. I’ve destroyed enough brushes already. So go to Daiso and find these. I don’t recommend orange and yellow as they are very sheer. But stock up on black and white as they are awesome.
